Kassie Stafford
5th Grade/Language Arts Teacher
Hello, my name is Ms. Kassie. I am the School Librarian here at Phoenix and this is my first year here. I am originally from the Iron Range and I graduated from Bemidji State University with a B.A. in English Education. I am a third generation Education graduate from BSU, both my father and grandfather were teachers.
I have always had a passion for reading and for books, they are my happy place. I was in charge of the Children’s department at Barnes and Noble for about 5 years when I lived in St. Paul, before I changed jobs to work in an office setting. I am thankful for Phoenix and having this position because it opened the door for me to get back to one of the things I love most, helping kids find their love of books and all the wonderful things reading has to offer. It also allows me to spend more time with my family now that my job is so close to home.
Before moving to North Branch last October (2022) I lived in St Paul with my husband, our two boys (now 3 boys who are 5yr, 2.5yr, and 8mo), and our dog, Luna. My oldest son attends Phoenix and the younger two will when they get old enough.
I love spending time outdoors with my family, either going for walks and collecting all the rocks and sticks little boys can carry or spending time at the lake swimming or kayaking. I also absolutely love creating things. I love making gifts and doing all sorts of crafty things, knitting, origami, sewing, baking, or anything with my Cricut.
